Raw Vegan Beet Balls

Do you want a healthier alternative to the artery-clogging meat ball? This recipe, in my opinion, tastes BETTER than the conventional meat ball, and it is 100% raw and 100% healthy. There was actually a point where I made this recipe almost every second day because I couldn't get enough of them :)

They are relatively easy to make, all you need is a food processor or vita mix to help finely chop everything together. You can either dehydrate them, or put them into the oven on the lowest setting, or simply use them as is (they clump together pretty well).

Ingredients:
- 2 portabella mushrooms or 2 cups cremini or shittake mushrooms
- 1/2 head cauliflower
- 1 beet, peeled
- 1/4 cup shredded carrots
- 1 -2 tbsp. finely chopped leek
- 1/2 cup chopped tomato or a handful of cherry tomatoes
- 1/2 cup arugula
- 1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon
- 1/2 tsp. cumin
- fresh basil (optional)
- 2-3 cloves garlic

Instructions:
1. Put cauliflower, beets, and carrot into food processor and pulse blend until you have fine pieces.
2. Put in the mushrooms and the rest of the ingredients and pulse blend to mix
3. Take the mixture and use your hands to form "beet balls"
4. Lay out on dehydrator sheets on your dehydrator and dehydrate for a couple hours to make them slightly firm. If you do not have a dehydrator, you can simply eat them as is, or you can put them in the oven at lowest setting for 15 minutes or so.
5. Serve with raw zucchini pasta. The recipe for this is HERE.

Fresh Summer Beet Salad

I love summer because all the fresh organic produce becomes available and nutrients are at their peak! Eating large salads at night is something I always look forward to because I have lots of fun seeing what I can come up with. I recently came up with this salad, motivated by the beets and their sweet, creamy texture. This salad is by far one of my favourites and I will definitely be making it again! Read on to find out how to make your own fresh summer beet salad :)

Ingredients:
- Any kind of leafy lettuce (I eat around 1-2 pounds of greens, so you can downsize as you please)
- 3-4 dill cucumbers sliced finely (any cucumber will work, I just love dills)
- 1 zucchini chopped into cubes
- 2 large tomatoes, chopped
- 1 cup sunflower sprouts
- 1 large beet, chopped into match sticks
- 1/2 avocado, diced into cubes
(I also added some herbs like dill, basil and cilantro! Just a few of each)

Toss around all the ingredients, and add a simple salad dressing like blended orange and dill, or a simple squirt of lemon, some cumin and hemp seed oil (a teaspoon or so). I normally don't put anything on my salads except some lemon and hemp seed oil every now and then.

Summer Pineapple Refreshment

This drink is a wonderful refreshment for any time of the year - but it is especially great in the summer months when you feel the need to cool off and boost your body with plenty of antioxidants. Pineapple is a great anti-inflammatory (thanks to it's awesome bromelain components) and coconut helps replenish any electrolytes lost through sweating. Oranges are rich in vitamin C so they increase your body's immune defences, while mango supports the health of your skin with their abundant enzymes and vitamin's A & E.

Raw Zucchini and Hempseed Hummus

I love zucchini hummus because it is easily made without beans (which often cause me digestive distress), and it tastes just as wonderful. It is also much lighter, and doesn't make you tired (because the digestion required to digest zucchini's is much faster than that which is required to digest beans). Read on to find out how to make your own delicious zucchini hempseed hummus!

Homemade V8 Juice Recipe

Did you know that a single 11.5 ounce can of V8 juice contains 690mg of sodium?! This will leave you feeling dehydrated and foggy-headed. V8 juices are highly processed, reconstituted "vegetable blends" which have completely lost their natural enzymes and bioavailability of nutrients. Instead, make this homemade V8 juice. It will leave you feeling refreshed, high energy, and ready to take on the day!

Eczema Juice Detox Recipe

Eczema and other inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis affect millions of individuals worldwide. These skin conditions are caused by a variety of things like a high-acid diet (lots of processed foods, junk foods, refined sugar, meat, dairy, wheat & eggs), stress, and the environment. Our skin is one of the body's main eliminatory organs, so it reflects how well (or how not-well) other organs in the body are functioning.

If your liver and kidneys are functioning well, then they can eliminate toxins efficiently. However, if these organs are backed up, then toxins will eliminate through other areas such as the skin. The first step to clearing up inflammatory skin conditions is to get back proper functioning of the liver, kidneys and gallbladder through a high-raw alkaline diet, incorporating lots of fresh raw pressed juices (such as the one below). All of the ingredients in this recipe help support the aforementioned organs, which will help clear up and detox your skin.
Need a juicer? Want a juicer that extracts all the nutrients without heating to high temperatures and thus preserves phytonutrients and energy life force? I swear by the Omega 8005 juicer! If you order the Omega through Live Love Fruit, you will get FREE shipping! Click HERE to order.

- 4 large beets, peeled
- 5 large carrots,
- 6 stalks celery

Build Your Own Refreshing Summer Smoothie

Summer is a time to freshen up your body and feed it with cooling foods that help lower blood pressure and body temperature. Build your own refreshing summer smoothie using these four easy steps!

If you want an amazing blender, I highly suggest you purchase a vitamix! It makes the smoothest, most creamiest smoothies, raw soups and sauces I have ever experienced! If you purchase a vitamix through Live Love Fruit, you will get FREE shipping and handling! Click HERE to purchase.

1. Add Fruit
You can add any kind of fruit you please. Summer time is the time of the freshest most ripest fruit, so it is essential that you eat a large variety (especially of the fruit that is local and in-season like nectarines, plums, peaches, mangos, cherries, grapes, melons and berries!)

2. Add Liquid
Add liquid; generally, any type of water, or you can add something for a little more electrolytes like some freshly pressed raw fruit juices or some coconut water. These will help replenish crucial electrolytes lost through sweating in the heat.

3. Power Up
This step is optional, however if you want to add a little more power to your smoothies you are free to add some medjool dates, or some vitamin and mineral rich raw chlorella powder. Kick it up a notch and up your antioxidant boost with some fresh raw acai berry powder, which you can purchase from Nativas Naturals.

4. Make It Cool
Cool down your system by turning your smoothie into a ice-cube slush, or simply blend watermelon by itself (watermelon smoothie anyone?) to help lower your blood pressure and cool down the body. Leafy greens are also great at cooling the body because they have high water content and are thus very easy to digest (and thus, the body does not heat as much to assimilate the digestive process).
